I've added a private messaging component to the Yakabout forums, allowing users to send messages to each other through the site. By default email notifications are switched off, but if you go to forums/my profile/inbox, there is a small settings tab where message notifications can be turned on. I'm yet to add avatar and image upload support, but that should be active within 24 hours. In the mean time I now have to deal with some hacker who has enacted some form of hack that is causing legit registered users to post spam into comments. I have found a fix in the form of a vastly improved comment system that is integrated into the forum which appears to have much better security. There's a couple of side benefits to that as well, in that the forum component has more features, the forums will populate with content faster, and it will reduce the amount of commentary options now available. Shout box, forum posts and article comments is overkill. Thanks to the hacker (cheers matey) I've been inspired to go forth and make further improvements. I haven't activated the new comments system yet (there's some tinkering to do) but it will be live by tomorrow night.
