Iluka is a fantastic little perch at the northern end of NSW and one of the first things I diliberated when I observed the waterways was how long it might be before I find myself kayaking among dolphins. If I'd have guessed within 2 hours, I'd have been right. These guys just kept appearing - by no coincedence - wherever I found fish. I filmed them several times, but this was the best of the footage. In hind sight I should have stuck the camera underwater - I was certainly close enough. I actually got gently nudged a few times, once on the Mirage drive fins and another on the bow, although it was friendly if not accidental. If my filming seems distracted (towards the end) it's because a guy was calling out to me from the nearby rockwall. He'd ran into trouble with his boat (you can see it right at the end of the clip) and needed my help to tow a haul rope back to him. If not for that I probably would have got much better footage because these creatures just wouldn't leave me alone :-) *Requires Firefox web browser to run Now I have to perfect Windows Movie Maker (or a better program) to get the quality right, as it seemed to reduce the quality of this video a lot. I may re-upload an updated version if I can fix it, but Im guessing I'll get some new footage within the next couple of days.
08-08-2007 14:16 Video problems Hey 5th, Not sure why but i cant seemt to play the video properly. The title plays fine but then it stops (even though the the whole file is loaded). If i click along the timeline bar it plays a few seconds and then stops again... me thinks the file could be corrupted? -Cal 08-08-2007 18:18 Video problems Hmmm, the video works for me. It appears 5th is within metres of the dolphins. I'm not computer savy, so I wouldn't know how to assist. Soz. Do videos work when your in 'You Tube'?? 08-08-2007 19:14 Video problems Cal, try Firefox. For some reason I'm having issues getting it working under IE. 15-08-2007 19:14 Video problems The dolphins were moving slowly, but with purpose. I could keep up with them easy in the kayak, but not by swimming. If I'd have dove in it would have been over in seconds. But I'll get my chance soon enough and when it comes, yes I will :-) Only registered users can write comments. Powered by AkoComment Tweaked Special Edition v.1.4.6 |
