I can see sleep! I've always felt that due to a combination of reasons, kayak fishing has a kind of therapeutic effect on the soul, which is something I also feel about camping. So far I've only been on my coastal kayak fishing tour for just on a week and already I am starting to feel some of the positive effects. Most notably, the insomnia that I've been enduring for years (especially in the past 8 – 9 months) has vanished without a trace.
I've compared myself to Tyler Durden (of Fight Club) here several times, mainly due to my ability to operate on only one hour of sleep a night. Ever since I've been staying at Iluka, instead of averaging only a few hours sleep a night I'm getting 10 – 11 hours, dozing off to sleep at around 9:30 each night. Everything is slowing down, which is exactly what I was hoping for. This is a really good habit for my body clock to be falling in to, as I plan to make most of my trips morning adventures. So far it's been the complete reverse of that, but as I ascend further north and the weather hots up the tide will turn.
I'm also starting to feel the positive effects of Vitamin D through exposure to the suns rays, as well as plenty of those Omega 3's, eating fresh fish almost every single night. Energy levels are returning and the bags under my eyes are finally receding. Now, if I can just find a way to reverse the gradual greying of my hair! |
