Internet Explorer not working - but Firefox doesI probably should have made it more obvious previously, but if you've been having problems running Youtube videos from Yakabout, it's most likely because you are using Internet Explorer, as opposed to the more user-friendly Firefox browser, which is faster, more secure, easily managed and apparently, more compatible with web 2.0. I will continue to try and find a fix for this problem but either way, I highly recommend that you switch over to Firefox for most of your web browsing. It only takes a minute to get used to the new feel and look of it and only a few minutes more before it's advantages become clearly obvious. If you haven't tried out Firefox yet, take my advice and give it a try. You won't go back.
09-08-2007 15:09 Im on firefox Hi 5th, I'm using Firefox.. but can't get the Youtube videos to work. Could it be something else? In any case - i will keep trying. Regards, -Cal 09-08-2007 17:25 Im on firefox Hrmm... not sure what would be causing that m8 :-/ 09-08-2007 18:34 works on IE for me... Works fine for Internet Explorer for me! Have to agree with the firefox comment... Firefox is a MUCH BETTER browser than Internet Explorer... 09-08-2007 19:20 works on IE for me... Will look into this one. I cant get em running in IE, but can in FF. Others can get it running in in IE. Initilly I had videos working by embedding them manually, but something broke that and then started using a plugin. Might have to look into alternatives or find a work around. 09-08-2007 19:30 works on IE for me... What I might do as an interim fix is provide a link to the youtube version of the same thing as well. That way anyone who has trouble viewing it from yakabout can still see the clip at least. I'll get to that soon. 10-08-2007 23:01 Easy solution This issue will relate to the different configurations of everyone's pc's combined with the various codecs to run video/audio that people have installed. But, there is a simple solution. 1. Open Firefox, and go here: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1419 2. Click 'Install Now'. Once installed, Firefox now has the ability to completely mimick IE perfectly. So, if you are using Firefox and the videos work thats great. If you are using Firefox and they don't work, then: 3. Right Click on the video link and click 'Open in IE Tab'. Firefox will open the video as if it were playing it in IE. Problem solved and the beauty is no one ever has to use IE again. :D Download the plugin for Firefox called IE Tab. Only registered users can write comments.
