Nothing to do with my manhood... honest

More and more lately I've yearned for a couple of telescopic fishing rods that aren't absolute crap. Something I can have stored on stand by for light stuff - anything from squid to bream and gars. Another slightly tougher rod for trolling would be nice to. I've started thinking like this because I've wasted too many hours on the water fiddling about changing rigs in an effort to match the hatch. Sometimes there's just no telling when a school of sambos appear, or hordes of squid might materialize. Sometimes it pays to be prepared.

Why telescopic? Well, I like the idea of being able to reduce the height of a fishing pole (quickly if need be), especially when there is at least one more rod in use at the same time. Secondly, I like the idea of collapsing it and storing it under the hull in case of necessity. This is much easier done with a rod that can be collapsed to less than 2 foot. But yeah - most telescopic fishing rods suck. The inexpensive Shimano I bought recently isn't bad, but not great (I can tell it won't last terribly long) but truth be told, I haven't ever seen a good one before. I recently found out about Banax telescopic fiberglass rods, however, and managed to order one from a fishing store in Hobart. These rods aren't cheap but I have it on good faith that they are up to handling larger fish. It'll be interesting to compare performance with the rattly old Shimano telescopic. I'll report back on that when I get a chance to use it.
