Ouchies

When I was packing up my kit after yesterday's kayak fishing trip I made the stupid mistake of attempting to lift the kayak up over my head and onto the car with a waterproof bag half filled with salt water and a fish inside of it. It wasn't so much the extra weight that caused me to strain my shoulder, but more so the inbalance that occured as the water filled bag moved to the end of the bow. It didn't hurt so much at the time, but I suspected that it would feel worse in the morning. I was right. So I've decided to rest up for a couple of days and will probably try and find somewhere to get a remedial massage done to speed up recovery. If I can find some place that performs happy endings, all the better.

It's not such a bad thing really - the weather is looking to be pretty much perfect on the weekend and I'm sure I'll be good to go by then. I've also got a fair bit of work to get out of the way. Today I'll be preparing a bunch of stuff to sell on ebay (including my old fishing rods, which are no longer any good to me) and tomorrow I'll be working on a couple of destination reports (Yeppoon and Mackay) as well as updating the gear list page, which has been neglected for longer than it should have.

Loader bar
Hi Josh,

Given your shoulder - i think a few dollars spent rigging up a loader bar for your roof rack might be a good idea?

I made my own from an old roof-rack and theres no way i'd go back to the 'clean and jerk' days! If you want some pics let me know. I copied the design from a post on kayakfishingstuff. I can't find the link but its basically an extra bar mounted to the roofrack with some u-bolts and wingnuts. Just loosen it to slide the bar in and out. Works a charm. Just be careful not to scratch to side of your car :)

Regards,
Cal

Loader bar
Cal, it's probably high time I stopped doing the daily clean and jerk (the kayak one, that is) so plase do email me a photo of your set up: This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it

I like the exersize side of doing it that way, but the potential for injury is just too great. I'm kinda surprised I got away with it as long as I did. Cheers mate :-)
