Yeehar!

Sailing Scene's resident kayak fisherman, Paulo (AKA On the edge) has put the word out on a noteworthy gathering planned at Balmoral this weekend (4/5/08) that will kick off with a kayak fishing session at around 6AM, followed by a BBQ breaky and then a Hobie Island sailing regatta. Woah... how much fun can you fit into one day? Looks like we're about to find out. This has altered my plans for the weekend of course because as soon as I found out about it, I was in like Flynn. So to those of you going, I'll see you there. For those of you who live nearby and are keen to take part, here's the skinny:

The Sailing Scene Team would like to invite you to join us in our very first Hobie Adventure Island Race Day. There will be a meet and greet on the beach, before we rig up and head out for a few short races with a few prizes up for grabs. Whilst you are out racing, the BBQ will be up and running, to keep the family and crowds entertained! Once the sailing has finished, we will head in for a BBQ, drinks and a social yarn. This event will be held at Balmoral Beach, Launching from the beach outside Balmoral Sailing Club located at the end of Esplanade Ave car park (eastern end ).

For people keen to have a fish in the morning, Paul and some of the Australian kayak Fishing Club (http://www.akff.net) will be meeting on the beach around 5:40am for a 6am launch. Any kayakers interested in coming out fishing in the morning please contact Paul at the shop on 9979 6546 or on the day on 0401 853 204. For anyone interested in seeing some well set up fishing kayaks, the boys will be returning between 8:30 and 9:00am, where we will have the breakfast ready.

Demo Kayaks will be available so if you have one and want to bring a friend just call me to book one ahead of time.

When: Sunday 4th May
Where: Balmoral Beach (Along The Esplanade, end of car park outside Balmoral Sailing Club)

KAYAK FISHING: 5:30 approx meet / rig up 6am Launch
Returning approx 8:30 – 9am for BBQ Breakfast

ADVENTURE ISLANDS: 9am meet and greet / rigging
10am Race Briefing
10:30 First Race
12:30 BBQ lunch / Refreshments

If you could please ring Paul or Chris at the Sailing Scene, and let us know who is able to make it, so we can get an idea of numbers. If you know any other kayakers that have not heard and may be keen, bring them along too, the more the merrier . . .

Pauly & Barnsie.
