I've been a fan of the Rack and Roll kayak car-topping system ever since it became available but I've grown especially fond of it since then - particularly during the holiday period, in which I did an obscene amount of fishing. Many of these trips were solo and if not for the Rack & Roll, my injured shoulder would have made it impossible to load and unload the kayak. I have found, however, that if a yak is fitted with RAM balls (for rod holders, etc) or anything else on the gunwales (such as the Island crossbars in my case) it isn't as easy to load upside down (as shown on the Rack & Roll website ). Instead I load the kayak by sliding it up on it's base and then flip it onto the gunwale once loaded. Although it involves an extra couple of steps, its definitely easier. The video below demonstrates loading and unloading.
